#403 - General Session and Keynote Speaker: Roger Martin - Join the Project Economy
Description:
Roger Martin, currently the world's #1 management thinker, believes projects are the organizing principle for work. Organizations, complex and adaptable systems that they are, can structure to leverage projects that will better connect strategy design and delivery, thereby creating value.Rapid technological advancements and shifting customer expectations have resulted in organizations adopting new ways of working to deliver value to customers. All of this is part of a discussion labeled as the "future of work." In this environment, organizations have evolved to become decision factories, operated largely by knowledge workers. Yet few enterprises organize these knowledge workers to enable quick, efficient decisions amidst rapid, ongoing change. Those that do, win. Much attention is given to the future of work, but this dialogue misses a critical element: that careers will increasingly revolve around a portfolio of projects rather than the traditional list of static job responsibilities. Those who are already working in a projectified way – consulting companies, advertising agencies and freelancers in the gig economy, among others -- are in fact part of a much larger "Project Economy" that will apply to knowledge workers at leading organizations worldwide. Join this fascinating discussion with Roger and learn how to be part of the future of work, and the Project Economy.
