#532 - Estimation of Realistic Project Schedules Using Next-Generation Risk Management Tools
Description:
Survey after survey reveals that projects are replete with schedule delays. One usual suspect? Ignoring risks. Four types of risks are identified in the latest "A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)": variability, events, ambiguity and emergent. Using a project example, we will define these risk types and demonstrate how to account for them in project schedules. We'll also illustrate a novel and innovative schedule management framework involving both qualitative and quantitative methods to manage risks.

Learning Objectives:
At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to:(1) describe how to develop realistic and accurate project schedule estimates based on next-generation risk management tools;(2) discuss how to control schedules using rational, innovative management techniques involving reserves that are calculated based on both qualitative and quantitative methods.
